A WHOLE HAND!

It was my baby girl's GOLDEN birthday! To celebrate, we had her first ever friend party! It was hilarious to watch these kids together. Scott and I were hiding giggles most of the time.

We started by decorating treat bags and crowns as everyone came in. Luke nudged Sawyer and said, "I draw REALLY good action figures. Do you want to see?"
S: "Yea!"
L draws stick figure.
S: "Whoa. You DO draw really good action figures!"
L: "I know."

Made my day. Then we read Rumpelstiltskin.

At the end of the book, a golden card fell out. It stated that though they may have guessed his name, the kids could never find his gold stash. This was followed by a clue. The kids didn't get it at all. However, after they were led by the nose to the second clue, they got the hint and scrambled around the park on a search for golden clues.

The last clue directed them to the pinata.

Which was a hit.

(Ahahaha! I crack myself up.) Ultimately, Rumpelstiltskin's gold fell out of the pinata and was hurriedly stuffed into bags and mouths. I need to train my two children better. They went for all the shiny baubles and none of the candy. Scott and I should have kept more candy back for us. :)

Then I told the story of King Midas and the Golden Touch. We played Freeze tag and took turns getting turned into golden statues.

Last, we followed the rainbow to the pot of gold.

I had gold medals ready for some Olympic races, but figured we would just spend the last few minutes on the playground. It was lots of fun, but I am SO glad I do not have quintuplets! I will take my rowdy three and call it good.

On her actual birthday, Cambria took cupcakes to school. When she got home, she opened one present (which was actually from Britney Moore- THANK YOU!!!).
It was an ELEPHANT KEY!

Stumped? It is a little key that goes to the information boxes at the zoo. We went to the zoo with the Moores once, saw theirs, and Cambria has been dying for one ever since. When our friends left us for cooler climes, they left their key behind. I saved it for this. Cambria had a blast running through the zoo looking for all the boxes. She even shared (a little) with her brother. Grandpa even got to come along for the birthday expedition. It was hilarious because Grandpa and Seamus wanted to see the animals, and Cambria just wanted to see the boxes.

We love our five-year-old. This year her requested favorite food was Spaghetti (though she later requested PENNE with red sauce). Her favorite colors are purple and pink.

She loves to giggle with her friends, play PBSkids.org, ride her bike, follow the neighbor girls around and generally just talk. If it is ever quiet in our house, Cambria is asleep or in trouble. She NEVER stops asking questions. Ever. She loves to help out with her siblings

(Aislinn has a double ear infection- can you tell?)

and has learned how to trick Seamus into playing her way.

(Seamus only has 1 infected ear and so is much less miserable)

We look forward to what this next year will bring and hope she doesn't drive her Kindergarten teacher up the wall. We love you, Cambria!

I'm a little late reading this, but wow! you had a cool party. I might steal that golden touch/statue idea... I need some active things to do for Charlotte's party. I'm not sure how long they'll sit for tea. And what happened to your friends and family list? Now I can't find anyone's blog!
