Breakfast included such delicacies as preserved duck eggs. No one could muster enough courage to try it so early in the morning.
We drove through the rain to look at how silk was woven, then toured Lingering Garden. Scott and I could've stayed all day!
After that, another lunch buffet and off to ShanTan Street. It was very picturesque and just a nice relaxing hour away from the crowds along the Grand Canal.
Back on the bus, we headed to Wuxi. We stopped by Lake Tai and watched the locals flying kites, walking dogs and rummaging in the underwater plants near the shore. We asked her (signing) what she was harvesting. She obligingly peeled something from her basket and handed it to us. Google translate to the rescue...they were water chestnuts! Pretty cool!
